Why Become A Christian?

One day when I was just a child, I was told that Jesus died for my sins and everyone else's sin too.  At night I was taught to pray the "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" prayer...

"Now I lay me down to sleep. 
I pray the Lord my soul to keep. 
If I should die before I wake,
         I pray the Lord my soul to take."          

I was so afraid that I would die before I woke up, and well, I wondered, "would the Lord take my soul"?  No...I knew I would end up in Hell because I did not know the Lord.

After many nights of that same type of praying and thinking, I remembered what my Pastor had been preaching about in church.  He said that if we realized we were sinners (because we do wrong things), and if we asked Jesus Christ to be our Savior (God's Son who died for all of our sin), that we would be Saved (able to live with the Holy Spirit's help and one day get to go to Heaven)!

My prayer time changed after that.  I soon prayed and asked Jesus Christ to forgive me for all the wrong things I had done and asked Him to save me.  What a glorious day!

". . . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."
